The "Family Affair"--her first love is sailing. The "Family Affair" is our sailing yacht for your Caribbean sailing vacation adventure. She is a 50 ft sloop rigged, mono-hull yacht built by the French manufacturer, Dufour. The model is a 2001, Atoll 50 (aka Atoll 6). She can do almost 9 knots in a good wind. But 7-8 knots is more typical. In addition to the furled jib and conventional main, she has a spinnaker pole for down wind conditions. She is set-up for single-handed operation with all lines to the cockpit and two electric winches. None of the guests are required to have any sailing experience but those who do can help crew as much as they wish, even skipper if they are qualified. During the week we will sail from anchorage to anchorage around the island. These short trips will range from 1 to 5 hours. See the Itinerary for details. If this sounds like too much, you can take the opportunity for a shore excursion while we sail to the new anchorage. We will meet your taxi there at the end of your excursion. For those who would like to sail more, we can go for longer day sails or plan trips to other islands in the area if all guests agree. See Customize for more details. There are also opportunities to participate in longer passages. During the last week stay in each island location, we make passage to the next island location. We usually leave on Saturday and arrive that evening at the new location. If some or all of your group do not wish to sail to the next location you can disembark on Saturday and return home from your arriving airport. You may also choose to fly to the next location and join those who made passage. You can then continue sailing around the new location with us or depart for home. Remember you can sail as much or as little as you want! To help you select which weeks to come based on your sailing enthusiasm, here is a breakdown by week according to the amount of sailing difficulty.
