Swimming & snorkeling are easy in the Caribbean and fun for all ages.

The Caribbean is such an easy place to enjoy these traditional activities on your fantasy vacation adventure. Year around the water temperature varies from 78 to 84 degrees F. Warm enough for comfort yet cool enough to refresh. I don't think a day goes by that I don't jump in at least twice just to cool off and refresh. The design of the Family Affair makes this easy. There is a fold down, transom swim platform that we deploy while at anchor. It makes entry to the Run-About easy and provides a great platform from which we can launch a variety of water activities. We have snorkels, and masks for two adults and we have fins for four adults. You may want to bring your own mask and snorkel to insure exact fit. I strongly recommend booties and a light 0.5-1.0 mm wetsuite as well for optimum comfort but for short swims no suit is needed. In most of our anchorages you can snorkel right around the sloop or use the Kayak. But the "Dink" and the Run-About are available if you want to go to the local reefs.

If all you want is to swim you can jump off the swim platform, no equipment needed. We even have a special attachment for our whisker pole on the aft hard top that allows us to make a rope swing we call the "Slingshot". When you leave the water using the swim ladder there is a fresh water, hand shower on the swim platform to remove the salt water.
