Trinidad is our Caribbean paradise for the 36th week of the year.

During this week our family sailing cruise will concentrate on the Trinidad which is an ideal location for a vacation adventure. Trinidad is our most southern island. It is well outside the hurricane belt and it is a safe haven for the height of the season. Trinidad is a combination of South American and Caribbean since Venezuela is only a few miles on the other side of the Gulf of Paria. In general the inland activities exceed the under water opportunities, but there are some good snorkeling in the Bocas islands. We will meet you on the dock at theCarenage Bay just east of Chaguaramas near 10.68045,-61.61790667 . Have your taxi hail the "Family Affair" and we will come to pick you up at the dinghy dock for Carenage. At the end of the week we make the longest passage of the year to Porlamar, Margarita Island. Since we depart from Chacachacare island, there is no opportunity to split your group as we normally could. So everyone should be up to this 24 hour passage or you should consider a different week such as 34 or 35.

Itinerary & Passage Plan:
Sunday:
We will meet you in Carenage, Trinidad (near Chaguaramas) on Sunday afternoon and spend the night there. You will need a taxi from the airport to the dock. Have the taxi hail the "Family Affair" on channel 9 and we will pick you up at the dock.

Monday:

We will stay in our anchorage and get acquainted with the recreational opportunities and the local activities. We will clear Customs and Immigration here in preparation for our departure on Friday.

Tuesday:

We will move anchorage to Grand Fond Bay, on the Monos Island. It will take less than 2 hours around mid-day. From here we have easy access by Run-About to all the local areas on the island.

Wednesday:

We will move anchorage to Chacachacare Bay, on the Chacachacare Island. It will take less than 2 hours around mid-day. From here we have easy access by Run-About to all the local areas on the island.

Thursday:

On Thursday we will stay in our anchorage and get acquainted with the recreational opportunities and the local activities.
Friday:
On Friday about noon we will depart for Porlamar, on the Isle Margarita (Venezuela). It is about a 24 hour passage in mostly open waters. We will be underway all night until about noon on Saturday. This is one of those passages I look forward to and your whole family will remember it as long as they live. However this is not for everyone. So be sure your whole group is up to this adventure. There are many other weeks that do not have this long of a passage, such as weeks 34 and 35 which have no passage.
Saturday
On Saturday we will arrive about noon. We will clear-in Customs and Immigration here. Please see the discussion under Margarita about Venezuelan safety. There are ample flights out of Margarita to Trinidad, Grenada, St. Vincent and San Juan. I would avoid connections in Caracas or the mainland. It is better to clear-in/out Customs and Immigration in Margarita not at Caracas or the mainland. This is particularly true because you will clear-in by boat but clear-out by air. It is best to do this at the same location with the same agency.
Sunday:
We will deliver you to the dock at Porlamar, Isle Margarita at your convenience before noon.
So you will need a taxi to the airport from the dock it is not far. We can hail one using the radio.
